This
website was conceived and developed in 2000, with an aim to provide a
greater general awareness of, and a science-based information portal
about North America's two species of these
fascinating, nocturnal, tree-dwelling, forest-dependent gliding
mammals. From a value-added prespective, it is hoped that
FlyingSquirrels.com will provide some of the "tools" required which
allow every
child or youth the opportunity to make their very own personal
connections
to the
natural world,
and accordingly, assist in their building a stronger "sense of place"
on this planet we must share with all other known (and unknown!) life
forms. Accordingly, we
encourage school children to employ the information presented on this
website without restrictions,
for their personal use in their
school projects, essays and reports....and especially their imagination
and sense of wonder.
Attention
Students: unless
specified
otherwise, when writing your report or essay, or compiing a big
project, please cite "Steve
Patterson, FlyingSquirrels.com", or "Steve Patterson,

should that information have been obtained at this website. All
