Flying Squirrels Of The World
Miscellaneous
Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

Ya gotta love Asian "Traditional Medicine"... it's not just bear gall bladders, tiger and snake penises, rhinoceros horns and seahorses....

Of course, there is not one peer-reviewed bit of evidence that supports any claims as to the effectiveness of any traditional medicine that involves the eating of an animal's body parts or excrement. In the meantime, our planet's wildlife are being decimated enmasse for superstitions' sake.
  • The feces of the endangered complex-toothed flying squirrel (Trogoterus xanthipes), as packaged and sold to be ingested for "medicinal purposes".
  • The urine of the extremely endangered wooly flying squirrel (Eupetaurus cinereus) is considered to be an aphrodisiac by some native populations.
  • In one Japanese culture, it is believed that if a "barren" women eats a flying squirrel she will miraculously become fertile.
